How It Works:
The massage therapist applies a combination of firm and lighter strokes throughout the body to relax the muscle tissues and increase blood flow to and from the heart. The therapist may linger on a particular area of the body to work out “knots”. Increasing the blood flow to muscles helps to release constriction and flush out metabolic waste, alleviating pain and tension.

What to Expect:
The client lies on a massage table, undressed (only wearing underwear) with a sheet over the body. The massage therapist will partly remove this covering while working on a particular part of the body, then place the covering back. Ample amounts of oil will be used in the body, unless the therapist is instructed otherwise.

Preparation:
Eat lightly, and preferably a few hours before your appointment. Wear clothes that are easy to slip off and on.
