Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) was developed over 80 years ago by Dr. Edmund Jacobson to counter, as he said already then, the “hectic pace of the new age”. In these insecure Covid-19 and post-Covid-19 times, this method is an excellent, no-body-touch therapy to cope with stress, relax more deeply, and connect with your inner feelings.
Laying dressed on a mat or sitting in a chair and following the therapist’s instructions, you will progressively relax your muscles; by systematically examining your body with mindfulness, you will become more aware of the interplay between muscle tone, your lifestyle and your inner world of feelings and thoughts. In doing so, you will reawaken your inner strength for mental and emotional peace.
As our core muscles are intricately connected to our innermost feelings of fear, anxiety and anger, PMR teaches us to better cope with deeper layers of our emotions and promotes regenerative stress management without using medicines.
Duration: 45 min. including pre-talk and integration.
Age: 16 to 70+
Recommended number of sessions: 8-10 in an interval of once or twice a week.
