Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage which encourages the natural circulation of the lymph through the body. Pioneered by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s for the treatment of chronic sinusitis and other immune disorders, it is now recognized as a primary tool in lymph edema management.
This massage employs a very soft, rhythmic touch that acts directly on the lymphatic system. It specifically removes edema — swelling due to over-accumulation of fluids in the body tissue, thereby detoxifying the whole internal milieu.
